St. Mary's - a general overview

The church of St. Mary the Virgin is located in the Parish (and village) of Kempsey, near Worcester in the UK. It is a Church of England (CoE) church, thus a Christian place of worship. The Parish of Kempsey is part of the Deanery of Upton-upon-Severn, which in turn is part of the Diocese of Worcester. There is a link to the Worcester Diocese website in the Useful Links section too.

Directions - how to find St. Mary's

Kempsey is situated on the A38, approximately 3 miles south of Worcester and 15 miles north of Tewkesbury. It is accessible by car from the M5 (J7) or the M50 (J1). There are rail links into Worcester (Foregate Street and Shrub Hill) but no direct train service to Kempsey itself. Buses run from Worcester and Tewkesbury through Kempsey.

By car, from the North - Head south on the A38 from Worcester (or from J7 of the M5). The first village you come to (about 3 miles) is Kempsey. St. Mary's church is located at the end of Church Street. Church Street is on the right hand side of the A38, opposite the Crown pub, with the church sign-posted. Follow Church Street and you will see the church at the end. You can park at the end of Church Street but be careful of the Ford at the end - don't drive through it as it can be deep. You can enter the church grounds by the gate. Alternatively follow Church Street round to the right before you get to the Ford and then turn left, back towards the church.

By car, from the South - Head north on the A38 from Tewkesbury (or from J1 of the M50). Kempsey is about 9 miles north of the M50 junction with the A38 and 3 miles south of Worcester itself. St. Mary's church is located at the end of Church Street. Once in Kempsey, Church Street is on the left, opposite the Crown pub, with the church sign-posted. Follow Church Street and you will see the church at the end. You can park at the end of Church Street but be careful of the Ford at the end - don't drive through it as it can be deep. You can enter the church grounds by the gate. Alternatively follow Church Street round to the right before you get to the Ford and then turn left, back towards the church.

Eco Congregation is an ecumenical programme which is helping the members of St. Mary’s Church to make the link between environmental issues and Christian faith. We have responded through practical actions in our church, our homes and within the local and global community.
