Overview
This site has been created using a simple, table based design with minimal graphics to help with download times for people still using 52k dial-up connections to the internet. From v005a (30/01/2009) onwards, the page layout has been designed to work with 1024 x 768 resolution screens. Prior to that the pages were designed to work at 800 x 600 so now vertical and horizontal scroll bars will appear at 800 x 600 resolutions e.g. on older, sub-17" monitors. The simple design should also help with people using Accessibility tools whilst browsing.
The site has been browser tested on a PC using Microsoft's IE (v6, v7 and v8), Google Chrome (v2.0.172.43), Mozilla Firefox (v3.0.6), Safari (v4.0.3) and Opera (v10.00). Whilst exact rendering of the site may be slightly different between these, the basic functions should all work acceptably. The site has also been given a basic test using Safari on an Apple Mac.
Problems with the site
If you come across any problems or errors whist browsing this site, please do email the site's webmaster (please see the Contacts page for details) and we will endeavour to fix the problem as soon as we can. Please advise which operating system, browser (inc. version - e.g. IE7) and screen resolution you are using as this may help to address any layout / browser specific issues.
Submitting content for inclusion on the website
This website is intended to be a resource for the church and the community. As such we welcome new content from parishioners and anyone with a link to the local community. The best format to send content in is electronic as this is most easily imported into the website. If you are sending text only content then a Word document, Text file or plain email will be fine. Please don't add any fancy formatting as the import process will turn it into the same typeface etc. as you see here. Please also make any headings mixed case text (as you see here), not all capitals. You can embolden headings so they are more obvious but we don't underline them on this site. Content can be emailed to the Webmaster or brought in on disc if you are local.
Photos, graphics and PDF files can also be added, again electronic versions are preferable. Note : if you do want to send photos via email, it would be helpful if they could be saved and sent as 800 x 600 sized jpg files, rather than in their multi-megabyte size as downloaded from your camera, as this is the largest size we hold on the site (to keep space requirements down).
Paper based documents can be added to the site but these have to be manually scanned and converted to PDF so this takes longer.
Please contact the Webmaster via the Contacts page for further details or if you have any questions re the above.
