This page is dedicated to the Alpha Course.
St. Mary's ran its first Alpha Course in September 2007 and, following the success of that, plans to run further courses each year, perhaps several each year if demand is there - see the Alpha Course Dates further down this page.

Each course lasts for between 6 and 8 weeks, with participants meeting one evening each week and the possibility of an additional day away at some stage.
Note: please let the Alpha Course Team know of any special dietary requirements well in advance of the start of your course.
These courses are ideal for people wanting to know more about Christianity and are also popular with those who are already active Christians but want to deepen their understanding. This is a wonderful and enjoyable introduction to the Christian faith and is strongly recommended to all.
Small groups start each session with a meal, which gives people the opportunity to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Then a DVD is shown, or there is a sort talk on various aspects of the Christian faith. A discussion follows, with people encouraged to asks questions and voice their own opinions.
The atmosphere is relaxed, with the emphasis on exploring and discovering Christianity. Chris and Carol Cooke say the last course run by St. Mary's was one of the most enjoyable they had been involved with.
Chris said: "We still see many of the people who attended it and it has been really encouraging to see peace and change happening in their lives and in those of their families. It is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had and continue to have with my involvement in further Alpha courses."

Alpha Course - April 2008 - starting on Mon 28/04/2008 at 7:30pm 6 - 7 week course. Dates now confirmed as: Mon 28/04, Wed 07/05, Mon 12/05, Mon 19/05, Wed 28/05, Mon 09/06. Course dates on Bank Holiday Mondays are thus moved to the Wednesdays. This Alpha Course will also serve as a Confirmation course, so if you would like to learn more about the Christian faith or wish to be confirmed, then this is the course for you. After all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. |
