Orchard House Rest Home, Kinnersley |
Carol Singing At Orchard House Rest Home, Kinnersley Do please join us as we sing some of the traditional carols for the residents of Orchard House Rest Home. We have regular contact with Orchard House taking Communion there once a month and I know that it means a great deal for them to see a group of us at Christmas going and sharing some Christmas cheer and the news of the birth of Jesus. We're usually there for about half an hour but it is certainly time well spent and a special time. So do please come along and share a bit of Christmas with the residents. |

Christmas Carols And Festive Fun Once again thanks to the welcome and generosity of William and Brenda at The Nash we're able to hold this lively evening enjoying singing some of the traditional carols and having a lot of fun and laughter. We shall be joined once again by THE CHASE SCHOOL BRASS BAND and there will be delicious festive refreshments served at the end. The proceeds go towards supporting our sister church of St. Denys and so do come along and have a great time. This is a ticket only event because of the limitations of space and so please get your ticket early from Church Wardens or John Henderson. |

Coming Together Meeting Coming Together meet on the 2nd Monday of the every month at St. Mary's House, Squires Close from 10:30am to 1:00pm. This is an ecumenical meeting and we enjoy a chat and a coffee at 10:30 going on at 11:00 with a time of worship and bible study with a different speaker each month. Around 12:00 we share in a snack lunch and finish about 1:00. Please feel free to come and join us, we are a very friendly bunch of people. Walkers & Hikers Christmas Carol Service This is a very enjoyable occasion as we join with many walking and hiking enthusiasts to celebrate the Christmas season and give thanks to God. Last year St. Denys was packed and a wonderful time was had by all followed by festive refreshments. I hasten to add that this service is not just for walking enthusiasts (otherwise the Vicar might not be there!) but for everyone. So do come and join us for this increasingly popular event. |

I always regard this as the first of the Christmas events and it makes a lovely start to the season so do please come and join us and give our young people your support and encouragement. This is one definitely not to miss and is open to everyone in our parishes throughout this Deanery. It will be a really good evening of light entertainment and delicious food and proceeds will go towards our Deanery Appeal to raise funds to educate children in the Third World. During November there will be a list at the back of church for you to sign if you would like to attend. The last time we hosted a Deanery Social in Kempsey it was a great success and so enjoyable: so do come along and help make this one the same. |

The Church will be open all day from 9:30am to 6:00pm and the Vicar will be there to receive any gifts that you may wish to make to the urgent restoration of our Church. There will also be Gift Aid Envelopes available at Church so that we can gain the maximum benefit from any donation made. There will be refreshments available and, as always, a very warm welcome. Our last Gift Day several years ago was a great success and we continue to be thankful for every penny and all those who gave so generously. |

Save the Children - Christmas Fayre On sale are Save the Children’s own cards and paper alongside a cake, raffle and marmalade stall. There will be a representative from Oxfam with Fairtrade Foods and Laura Norman will be running a stall to fund her volunteer work in Africa, Peru and Nepal. Autumnal Barn Dance with Dampier's Round The dance will be led by Dampier's Round. This is for the United Benefice and organised by The Friends of St. Denys. Following on from their appearances at previous Barn Dances we very much look forward to Dampier's Round leading us once again in an enjoyable fun evening of lively entertainment. There will also be refreshments on offer. This is very much an event for everyone both young and older and together I know we'll have a great evening. Proceeds go to the support of St. Denys' Church. Tickets are available from Church Wardens and John Henderson and so do come along and support this event and the hard efforts of all those who organise these lovely times of fellowship. |

Doesn't religion cause more harm than good and would we be better off without it? Update - 12/07/2009 - The grand total raised for the day is currently just under £5,000. Some monies and sponsorship are still being collected and it is very much hoped that the total will push past the £5,000 mark. The final total will be updated here once it is known. Do please make a date for this annual extravaganza, as there will be even more stalls than ever and lots and lots to see, do and, above all, enjoy. Cakes stalls, game stalls, raffles, tombola, the Vicar's bottle stall and, once again, Daren and his DONKEY RIDES for the children. It will be a great afternoon and I know that a good time will be had by all. All proceeds will go towards the support and upkeep of St. Mary's Church.

Open Air "Songs Of Praise" Followed by an afternoon tea with delicious cakes. Do come and join us as we literally gather at the River Side for a Songs of Praise singing some of your favourite hymns and songs. There is no charge for the event but please bring a garden chair with you. If the weather is poor then the event will take place in St. Mary’s Church. For those with access to the Internet it will say on the St. Mary’s Church Website from 12:00 noon whether the event is inside or outside. But please pray for a good weather day. Also note that there will be no Evening Service at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary's Church Men's Group - BBQ The Church Men's Group Annual Barbecue is being held on Sunday 14th June at St. Mary's House to start at 1:00pm. If possible, help would be appreciated from at least 11:45am to prepare the garden and run the barbeque and to help prepare the food. Anyone who is able to attend and how many will be coming, please contact Arthur Kelly 01905 820824. Charges will be £8-50 and £4.00 for children. Jazz Evening at St. Denys Again one of the highlights of the year and a big fund-raiser for St. Denys as we’re royally entertained by THE SAUCE CITY JAZZ BAND to whom we are, as ever, greatly indebted for their time and talents. It will be a lovely evening and it would be great to see the church packed with folks to enjoy it. The Jazz Evening will follow on from our annual Thanksgiving Service for St. Denys at 6:30pm: so why not join us for both and make it a very special evening. Do make it a date to come and give God thanks for our beautiful Church of St. Denys and then enjoy an evening of relaxation with our favourite Jazz Band. Please note that there will be no Morning Service at St. Denys and no Evening Service at St. Mary’s because we know that a good number of you like to support St. Denys’ on this special occasion.

Coming Together Meeting Coming Together meet on the 2nd Monday of the every month at St. Mary's House, Squires Close from 10:30am to 1:00pm. This is an ecumenical meeting and we enjoy a chat and a coffee at 10:30 going on at 11:00 with a time of worship and bible study with a different speaker each month. Around 12:00 we share in a snack lunch and finish about 1:00. Please feel free to come and join us, we are a very friendly bunch of people. St. Mary's Church Mens Group - Annual Dinner The Men's Group meets every first Monday of the month from October to April at 7:30pm at St. Mary's House, except Monday 2nd February when we will be attending our Annual Dinner at the Rose and Crown, Severn Stoke.
