Philomusica Christmas Concert - *** CANCELLED due to snow *** It’s great to announce another visit from our friends The Philomusica who will be giving us a concert full of festive song to really get us in the mood for the Christmas season. Please mark this date on your calendar and come along to another wonderful Christmas Concert. It will be an exceptional evening of singing and Christmas cheer with seasonal refreshments served in the interval. Coming Together Meeting Coming Together meet on the 2nd Monday of the every month at St. Mary's House, Squires Close from 10:30am to 1:00pm. This is an ecumenical meeting and we enjoy a chat and a coffee at 10:30 going on at 11:00 with a time of worship and bible study with a different speaker each month. Around 12:00 we share in a snack lunch and finish about 1:00. Please feel free to come and join us, we are a very friendly bunch of people. Speakers are: December 13th - Rev. Walkers & Hikers Carol Service at St. Denys' Church For the last few years this has become one of the main events of the St. Denys' Calendar as we are joined by well over a hundred friends and well wishers to enjoy singing God's praises with traditional carols followed by mulled wine and refreshments. It really is a wonderful occasion and I do hope that you will be able to join us this year on this at this very special service. |

Carol Singing at Orchard House Rest Home As always before Christmas we shall be joining the staff and residents at Orchard House, Kinnersley to sing Carols and to bring festive cheer. Myself and Peter Fitzjohn regularly take Communion to the residents but it is great once a year to have a larger group of us going in and leading the singing of Carols. I know that our visits are much appreciated and so I do hope you will join us for half an hour of singing and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. It is only 30 minutes but it means so much. |

Philomusica - Concert - Lest We Forget - *** IMPORTANT UPDATE *** Important Update - the Philomusica Concert at St. John's Church in Bedwardine, Worcester has reluctantly had to be cancelled due to failure of the heating system. However, the Church of St. Peter & St. Paul, Upton on Severn has come to the rescue and the concert will be held there instead. The concert will now be free of charge, although there will be a retiring collection in aid of Help the Heroes. The date, time and programme will be as advertised. Women's Fellowship Trip to visit the gardens of Orleton House Women's Fellowship is arranging a half day coach trip on Wednesday 14th July to visit the gardens of Orleton House, Stanford Bridge Nr. Tenbury Wells. We would like to invite anyone - male or female to join us if they would like to enjoy the afternoon with us. There are lovely large richly planted colourful herbaceous borders of several acres (you don't need to walk around the whole lot!!) surrounding a 19th Century Grade 2 listed building, in the beautiful Teme Valley. There will be a short talk about the history of the garden, with a tour by the owners, finishing at the Jenny Hughes Pottery and pottery shop. There will be plants for sale. Wheelchairs can access main parts of the garden and sensible footwear is advised. The coach will leave Kempsey at 1:00pm picking up from the Community Centre, from the Parish Hall, and from Byefields, returning from the gardens at 4:30pm so should be back in Kempsey for around 5:30pm. Cost for the outing is £14.00 to include coach, entrance fee and refreshments of tea or coffee and biscuits. Do please make a date for this annual extravaganza, as there will be even more stalls than ever and lots and lots to see, do and, above all, enjoy. Cakes stalls, game stalls, raffles, tombola, the Vicar's bottle stall and, once again, Daren and his donkeys for the children. It will be a great afternoon and I know that a good time will be had by all. All proceeds will go towards the support and upkeep of St. Mary's Church. Note to Helpers and Donators St. Mary's House will be open every evening the week before the Saturday of the fete; Mon June 28th, Tue 29th, Wed 30th, Thu July 1st, Fri 2nd, between 6:30pm and 8:00pm. Christian Aid week starts Once again Kempsey volunteers for Christian Aid will be out collecting the red envelopes which will come through your letter box. Please be as generous as you are able, it is a difficult economic time but a little goes a long way so please donate as much as you can. Kempsey raised over £2,000 last year and it would be great if we could achieve this again or even more. Red Cross Appeal Week - Be a Red Cross Champion!
As you will be aware, the Red Cross has been actively involved with offering humanitarian assistance in Haiti following the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. On a local level, during January’s arctic weather, the Red Cross were able to provide transport to those that needed it using their trained team of volunteers and 4x4s. We urgently need funds to deliver these vital services to those who need us most and you can help make a difference during Red Cross Appeal Week. We are looking for people to coordinate the 33 supermarket collections arranged in Worcestershire by asking their friends, partners and any other budding volunteers. We will provide everything you need; all we need from you is your time. “With a little help from you”, 2 hours of collecting on average could raise £40 which could train 4 people in life-saving first aid skills but if everyone were to ask one other person they know, this could raise £400 which could provide temporary shelter for eight families in Haiti. The Cornflower Club - Meeting Resumes after Christmas break. This is a very lively and enjoyable Club for the over fifties with a varied and enjoyable programme including visiting speakers and outings. Coffee Morning The Friends of St. Denys always organised a lovely Coffee Morning and Bring & Buy Sale in January and this year we're very pleased to be at the home of Hugh and Jean Hanmer. So do come along and enjoy a super morning in each other's company and thankyou to Hugh & Jean for hosting the event. All proceeds towards the support of St. Denys' Church. |

Coming Together Meeting Coming Together meet on the 2nd Monday of the every month at St. Mary's House, Squires Close from 10:30am to 1:00pm. This is an ecumenical meeting and we enjoy a chat and a coffee at 10:30 going on at 11:00 with a time of worship and bible study with a different speaker each month. Around 12:00 we share in a snack lunch and finish about 1:00. Please feel free to come and join us, we are a very friendly bunch of people. Parish Party - "Beat The Blues" Fun & Social Evening - *** CANCELLED *** NOW CANCELLED - January can often be an anti-climax after all the activity and excitement of Christmas and so we thought we'd try to rectify this a little by having a really enjoyable evening of fun, laughter and fellowship to take away some of those winter blues. This is a lovely gathering for little ones in which they have a great deal of fun, a little children's service and shared refreshments afterwards.
