The following are pictures and videos from the St. Mary's Summer Fete on Sat 05/07/2008.
This year we were lucky with the weather and, although it was windy with the odd small shower, it was generally bright and even sunny at times! This meant that the Fete could stay in its proper place in the grounds of both St. Mary's church and St. Mary's House - a much more spacious environment. This was a very welcome change from last year when it had to be held in the Parish Hall due to the foul weather - I'm not sure how we would have found enough room for the Donkeys in there!
We were also delighted to have the Fete opened by Cath Mackie from BBC Midlands Today. Cath is a local resident who always tries to attend the Fete and thus has a real link to Kempsey and St. Mary's. Our thanks to Cath for her time and enthusiasm.
This year the parish managed a fantastic turn-out and the stalls were all kept very busy - there always seemed to be a long queue for the The Vicar's Famous Bottle Stall for example.
There were 37 stalls and attractions including traditional ones like the Coconut Shy, Maypole by Kempsey Primary School and Tombola and new ones including Donkey rides and Spicy Delights from The Gurkha Knight restaurant.
