Young People

Our vision is to work alongside parents, families and carers to see children become fully devoted to God and excited about the great things He has planned for their lives. We hope to engage children in a church they want to be a part of and where they feel valued.

Our aim is for St Mary’s to be a warm and welcoming place where children:
LOVE – know the love of God through Jesus and develop new and lasting friendships
LAUGH – have fun with games, competitions, small groups, craft, sport, puppets, music and drama
LIVE – work out what living God’s way looks like
LEARN – learn more about God through biblical, creative and age appropriate talks and worship.

Our Vision is supported by a range of Sunday and weekday activities for children and families:

On the first Sunday of every month the main service is ‘Families Together.’ Gathering from 10.15 am, we enjoy a free and sociable half hour breakfast together before moving into a short service (30 – 40 mins) aimed at our younger members – full of fun and activity.

During all other morning services we have a Junior Church and crèche with faith filled fun activities for all.

On Friday mornings during term time Church is full of laughter and activity with our ‘Little Angels’ baby and toddler group. With all the latest toys for babies and toddlers, and weekly craft activities ‘Little Angels’ is a great place for toddlers to play and learn in a safe and uplifting environment. Sessions include singing, art, stories and prayers, with snacks and drinks for both toddlers and adults – all for FREE!!!

We also have special afternoon events throughout the year such as our Teddy Bears Picnic, Family BBQ, Scarecrow-Fest, Christingle, St Patricks Day celebration and many others – all based around fun, friendship and food for the family! And we are always planning more!

Our Outreach Worker, Craig Morgan, is tasked with working with children, young people and families to create and strengthen bonds between the Church and the communities, and we are committed to working with other Churches represented locally to extend this community work.

We are delighted to have strong links with Kempsey Primary School and alongside a weekly assembly taken by the Vicar, members of St Mary’s and St Deny’s delight in leading a weekly ‘Open the Book’ assembly. We also run a number of School Clubs, offering a range of positive and inspiring activities.
